Britain, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia... European Ambassadors to Clean Murter Seabed!

Ambassadors to Croatia from Europe and Canada are set to take their diplomacy to the very bottom, of the sea, that is.

As Morski writes on the 3rd of June, 2018, Šibenik diver Kristijan Curavić, along with the ambassadors of several European countries, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as the Canadian ambassador, will launch the ecological project "Ocean Ambassadors" on Tuesday, June the 5th, in beautiful Murter.

Curavić's praiseworthy project aims to preserve, protect and systematically clean up the Adriatic, and the initiative will be supported by more than thirty participants, senior officials, and ambassadors in the Republic of Croatia, writes ŠibenikIN.

Aside from the co-organiser of the action, Daniel Maksymiuka, Canada's ambassador, the initiative will be joined by the German ambassador, Thomas Eberhard Schultze, the Slovakian ambassador, Juraj Priputen, the Swedish ambassador, Lars Schmidt, the Swiss ambassador, Stefan Estermann, and Andrew Stuart Dalgleish, ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

In a pleasant twist, in addition to supporting the initiative, all of the adorementioned will also take to the water and dive themselves, with the help of professional WhiteFlag Int. divers, and help to clean the seabed by removing the plastic and other non-biodegradable waste products found there.

Murter-Kornati Municipality's Toni Turčinov will also dive from into Murter's waters next Tuesday in a sign of his support for this eco-action, which aims to raise citizen's awareness. There will also be fifteen professional divers and as many as twenty assistants on hand to provide all the necessary assistance when diving and clearing the seabed.

''In accordance with the global theme of the World Environment Day's ''Fight against plastic pollution'', this first diplomatic eco-action in Croatia and has been organised with the aim of raising public awareness of one of the biggest problems of today's world, namely the amount of plastic and non-biodegradable waste which is located on the seabed or gets brought in by sea currents, and often harms marine life, as well as human health. It has already been proven that microplastics have managed to enter the human body through the consumption of fish which has been feeding on the seabed which is covered in a large amount of waste left behind by man,'' warned Kristijan Curavić.

Thie eco-action begins at 09:00 in Murter by the sea in front of the Fabro restaurant. The finish is scheduled for 13:00, after which the participants will jointly photograph the waste that they've taken off the sea floor to highlight the benefits of such actions.
