Another busy summer for the best concert venue in Croatia and far beyond.

The Pula Arena amphitheatre is one of the most attractive concert stages in the world, a favourite and prestigious venue for performances used by artists to confirm their stardom status. This summer it will offer the richest program ever, ranging from classical music to rock, providing something for everyone's taste, as well as a chance to listen to some of the greatest stars of the world music. And performers will have to invest a lot of effort to try to make their concert the one that will mark this summer at the Arena, reports Jutarnji List on June 8, 2018.

The summer concert programme will begin on 8 July, with a concert of the famous British musician Elvis Costello and his Imposters. Costello was named by the Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 100 greatest artists of all time, and his numerous hits cover various musical genres and are a guarantee for a great concert.

The end of July is reserved for the classical music. The Opera of the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka has prepared two performances. The first is one of the most popular operas in the world, Verdi's "Aida", which will be performed on 27 July, while two days later the ancient amphitheatre will witness another masterpiece – “Carmina Burana”.

August will provide even richer programme, with the first concert being the one by famous “sevdah music” singer Amira Medunjanin, who is also known as "Bosnian Billie Holiday". She will be accompanied at the Arena by of the famous Norwegian strings band Trondheim Solistene.

“The King of the Roma Violinists” Roby Lakatoš, who unique technique and style impress audiences wherever he comes, will perform together with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra on 5 August. Ballet performance of the cult Fitzgerald's novel “The Great Gatsby”, with choreography specially designed for this show by one of the most sought-after contemporary choreographers Dwight Rhoden, known for his collaborations with Prince, Lenny Kravitz and U2, will undoubtedly delight the Pula audience on 9 August.

A week after, the audience in the Arena will have the honour of listening to the legend of French chanson Charles Aznavour, an artist whose career has lasted for more than 70 years and whom CNN has declared “the entertainer of the century.”

Two days later, on 18 August, one of the biggest regional music stars Zdravko Čolić will perform at the Pula Arena. He has been among the most famous Western Balkan musicians for decades, and Pula will surely witness a memorable concert.

August will conclude with a concert by Stjepan Hauser from the world-famous Croatian duo the 2Cellos, for whom the concert of his favourite classical pieces will mark a return to his hometown. He will perform on 24 August and be accompanied by musicians such as Lola Astanova, Caroline Campbell, Ksenija Sidorova and Petrit Ceku, as well as the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra.
