Croatia to Star in “Mamma Mia 3”?

By 23 July 2018

Unlike in Part 2, Croatia will this time “play” itself.

The 65th Pula Film Festival was the venue for the Croatian premiere of the "Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again!" Abba-musical, which was shot last year on the island of Vis. The film premiered in the presence of director Ol Parker and young actors Jeremy Irvine, Josh Dylan and Hugh Skinner, who left the next morning for the island of Vis, which last year played the role of a Greece island, reports Večernji List on July 23, 2018.

“Now is the right time to announce that we are already preparing a third part of the film, and Croatia will this time be Croatia and not some other Mediterranean country,” the director revealed after the screening, while the actors happily remembered Dalmatian wines and octopus, as well as riding bicycles through vineyards and visiting summer music festivals.

“I came to Croatia for the first time six years ago with my family, and I have been returning ever since. This time, others wanted to join me so we could once again see the beauty of your shore,” said Skinner.

In addition to the young stars, the film based on the Swedish band ABBA’s songs is full of well-known Hollywood names such as Meryl Streep, Andy Garcia, Pierce Brosnan and Cher, and the Croatian coast really looks like on a gorgeous postcard, inviting everyone to enjoy its beauties. This Hollywood production, which brought a lot of experience and money to the Croatian film industry, also serves as a great advertising vehicle for Croatia’s tourism.

With actors sailing on the Adriatic, “Mama Mia: Here We Go Again!” will also be on a summer tour along the coast, from Opatija to Dubrovnik.
