Exhibition of Photographs Pope Francis in Israel at the Museum of Slavonia

Just in time for Easter.

A great exhibition is opening in Osijek on March 24, 2016, one that will make many people open their hearts and as we all seek answers to many of life's important questions. Museum of Slavonia,  the main guard , st . Trinity 2 in Osijek presents the photographs taken during Pope Frances' visit to Israel.

I have not seen the pictures yet in the museum setting environment with the ability to stand back and listen to the conversation unravel. To be able to watch other gallery patrons look at the photography being displayed in awe and to hear what they think is priceless. I remember in lectures of my famous teacher Dr Francis Broun (OCAD) saying people often quote that a picture is worth a thousand words. It is the perfect timing of this exhibit to open in Osijek, as it falls days just before Good Friday.

The opening ceremonies will be that of lighting of the candles, and a moment of prayers to reflect. Various members of the community will be there to have open dialog from the churches as well other members that have contributed to the Exhibit.

The one thing that will be most interesting is how the pictures invoke the thoughts and emotions of the Easter celebration of the Catholic and Christian faith. Each image tells a story of history as the backdrop of Israel’s ancient locations are captured with the Pope. The cultural passage of time plays a role in the snap shots, it is important to note who is standing beside inherit Pontiff. In this brief moment the images captivates the open dialogs of Papa Francis as he talks to the leaders and dignitaries in Israel. The historic images the camera lenses captures in one quick snapshot emanates emotional peace and intimate scenes. The warmth of Papa Francis gives in holy lands through these photos can be identified with many believers and spectators.

The mission of the photos is of many things:

  1. To be able to engage the public with the community and illustrate the positive interreligious dialogue.
  2. What is peace and how can we achieve this whether it be in our community or in vast every changing global world
  3. Achieve reconciliation ,recognition and dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Jewish people
  4. The relations between Israel and the Holy See.

Israel benefits from such visits from the Pope as it brings parishioners to visit the same footsteps of the pope. The Embassy believes that many are enlighten by the joy of the pilgrimage and the unique experience that people share.

The location of the Pope’s visit bring together Historical significance in relation to time and positive change.

It is within the realm of both Academic and Cultural experience that intrigues the journey to unfold the complexity of heritage. The geographical diversity and the ancient sites resonate in viewing Pope Francis exhibition of photographs so do set some time aside to visit it.
