By 24 August 2018

Is the summer over?

The long period of hot and dry weather is coming to an end, reports Index.hr on August 24, 2018.

On Friday, the weather will still be mostly nice, but with a higher possibility of local showers in the western part of the country. Towards the end of the day, moderate south and southwest wind will gradually become stronger in the northern Adriatic region. Temperatures will reach as much as 36 degrees in some areas.

The change in weather will first be felt on the northern Adriatic coast, where there will be showers during the night. Major development of clouds should be expected on Saturday morning on the Istrian coast.

Saturday will bring more and more clouds from the west, while the northern and part of the central Adriatic will see cloudy weather with occasional local showers. On Saturday afternoon, weather conditions will worsen in other parts of the country as well, which will include showers and thunderstorms in the central and northern part of inland Croatia.

There is a chance of heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by a large amount of rain in a short time period, as well as a possibility of hail and twisters on the Adriatic coast.

Temperatures will drop, especially in the western part of the country.

On Sunday, clouds, rain and heavy showers will spread to southern and eastern Croatia, and the temperatures will further decline. In the mountainous part of the country, temperatures will drop into single digits, while in the rest of the country they will mostly be between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius, which is between 10 and 15 degrees less than during the previous days. Temperatures will drop to about 25 degrees in the southern Adriatic region.

It is expected that the weather will begin to stabilise on Sunday afternoon, which will continue on Monday as well. Temperatures will rise gradually next week but are not expected to reach the current levels.
