Gacka Valley has recorded a 30% increase in arrivals in 2015 and they are adding more tourist attractions every year.
Gacka Valley in the National Park of North Velebit in Croatia is attracting more tourists each year, and as reported by Poslovni Plus on March 29, 2016, they are expanding their tourist offer with new and innovative features.
A brand new Aviation museum is currently under construction on the sports airfield in Otočac, and in one of the planes that are currently being refurbished, visitors will be able to follow the entire flight over the Gacka Valley through 3D glasses. Aircraft C47 Skytrain, popularly known as Dakota, had a very important military role during WWII so creators of the museum believe this virtual tour in a legendary plane will create a lot of interest. Along with the virtual tour, Dakota will also have a bar inside the cockpit, creating yet another memorable experience for visitors.
Croatia has 3 Dakota airplanes but they are all in a very bad shape. The one that is currently stationed in Otočac is undergoing complete refurbishment along with the entire airport and two Thunderjets, all thanks to EU funds. Future Aviation museum has three planes and they will receive a MiG 21 from the Croatian Ministry of Defense (we just hope it’s not one of the “frankenplanes” that are currently causing a lot of media attention).
Opening date is yet to be revealed but we will keep you posted.
