Koprivnica Provides Free Public Transportation with Electric Buses

By 26 September 2018

The programme is called BusKo.

As part of the European Mobility Week, the Town of Koprivnica and its local Komunalac public company presented a free public electric bus service named BusKo. The programme includes two electric buses and one charging station, reports Poslovni.hr on September 26, 2018.

The transportation is free for all users and the buses will use the existing bus stations. They will follow a route from the campus through the town centre to the bus station, and then back to the campus. The plan is to introduce another line, but more detailed information will be released later. The bus time schedule has been adapted to the charging regime of the busses, which can transport 12 passengers, while the maximum speed is limited to 90 kilometres per hour.

“I would like to thank the Komunalac management who has invested a lot of effort in order to implement this programme on the streets of Koprivnica. I believe that the first line will stimulate interest among students, as well as all other citizens. We will soon present the second route, for which our fellow citizens from suburbs have expressed great interest. It will include the areas of Starigrad, Reka and Vinica. I am delighted that we have succeeded in this initiative thanks to the largest project in the town, Civitas Dynamo. Thanks to this project, we have electric buses in the town and we can proudly say that we have sustainable public transport,” said Koprivnica Mayor Mišel Jakšić.

The town of Koprivnica will allocate around 20,000 kuna per month for this programme. The costs include vehicle maintenance and salaries for two bus drivers.

The press conference was also attended by Goran Međuređan, member of the Komunalac management board, who pointed out that his company had bought the new chargers and trained drivers how to drive electrical buses.
