Four successful businesswomen were nominated for the award.
The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award is a kind of Oscar for innovative, creative business women. It is awarded every year to women around the world. The award was launched in 1972 in honour of Madame Clicquot from France, an exceptional businesswoman with an extraordinary courage and entrepreneurial spirit.
In 1798, Madame Clicquot married the successful Champagne producer Françoise Clicquot. When she became widowed at age 27, she did not continue to enjoy the fruits of his work, she did not hesitate or fail – she firmly took over the reins of the business and became the first woman to head such a company. Her entrepreneurial spirit was further proven and demonstrated in 1810 when she produced the first vintage wine in the Champagne region.
This year, the award bearing her name, which is a kind of homage to Madame Clicquot and is awarded in 27 countries of the world, had nominated four women from Croatia. They have excelled in their careers thanks to their diligence, original ideas and have raised the bar in meeting the business challenges, just like Madame Clicquot did. The Croatian selection nominated four successful business women: Kristina Ercegović, Ivana Matić, Alis Marić and Aleksandra Dojčinović.
The event, which included the award presentation ceremony, took place at the wonderful premises of the Croatian History Institute in Opatička Street in Zagreb. The jury members were last year's winner Mirjana Brlečić, director and owner of Nikkel Cosmetics; Anja Zambeli Čolak, director and owner of the Zambeli brand design studios; Jadranko Smokrović, director of the Moet&Hennessy for central and southern European markets; and Vlado Šušak, director of the Miva wine gallery.
The jury decided that the winner of the award would be Aleksandra Dojčinović. She is the author of the super-successful LeiLou brand. In late November, she will participate in the regional selection in Slovenia and represent Croatia at the prestigious event.
The evening celebration of women's business success was held in the gardens of the Croatian History Institute, where all guests enjoyed the Veuve Clicquot Rich champagne. The award ceremony itself was hosted at a unique venue, the Golden Hall of the Croatian History Institute.
After the official ceremony, the party continued with delicacies prepared by Ana Lisak from Catering Lisak, who was also nominated for the award in previous years. Of course, everybody enjoyed the Veuve Clicquot Brut and Rosé champagne bubbles.
