Marin Čilić Foundation: Scholarships for Young Athletes and Musicians

By 26 October 2018

The Marin Čilić Foundation has announced new scholarships for young musicians and athletes in Croatia.

October 26, 2018 - Every child has the fundamental right to realize their full potential. It is precisely this line of thought that Croatia’s celebrated tennis player Marin Čilić has inspired with the idea of contributing to the community through systematic assistance, primarily to children and young adults.

This is how the Marin Čilić Foundation began its work, which through educational, sports and encouraging programs motivates an environment where everyone has the opportunity to follow and realize their dreams. A competition for a new project was announced this week, awarding scholarships to young classical musicians and athletes, which will run until November 22, 2018.

The Marin Čilić Foundation scholarship program will help young athletes and musicians from low-income families.

The goal of the project is to provide support to gifted children and young adults, whose circumstances, such as lack of financial resources, prevent their skills and dreams from coming to fruition.

“The Foundation firmly believes that every child has unlimited potential within themselves. If you believe in yourself, work diligently and have the right support, you can make every dream come true. From my personal experience, I know how difficult it is, so the goal of this project, as well as all the other projects the Foundation has already implemented and plans to implement in the future, is precisely to support children in achieving their maximum potential and their dreams,” Marin Čilić said, whose Foundation is preparing two more interesting projects.

The scholarships are open until November 22 and are awarded in several categories - a top scholarships for classical music students, four scholarships for students of elementary and secondary music schools, five scholarships for young athletes from secondary schools who must be members of the national selection in Olympic sports and a donation to the School for the Reconstruction of the Natural Sciences Laboratory (chemistry, physics, informatics, biology) provided that the school has a talented student in the subject. Scholarships are intentional and can only be used for further training such as seminars, contests, purchase of musical aids or sports equipment, and the like, and the advantage is given to candidates coming from low-income families.

"We are very happy to have started with a scholarship project and we believe that this is the first in a series of many others to follow in the future. We hope that the contest will be motivation for children and young people to continue working diligently, and we invite them to sign up for their dreams together," said Nevena Mrkonjić, the director of the Marin Čilić Foundation.

Candidates for the Marin Čilić Foundation scholarship program must be Croatian citizens and have good marks in school.

The requirements for applicants are that they must be Croatian citizens and must have a good average rating and, inter alia, must enclose a motivational letter. All the terms and conditions of the competition, as well as other information about the work of Marin Čilić Foundation, can be found on the official website, Facebook and Instagram pages.

The Marin Čilić Foundation has already achieved many successful projects and donated to children in Croatia and Rio de Janeiro.

The Foundation has already created several successful projects and hosted donation dinners. During the holiday season, Marin visited two homes for neglected children in Croatia. In Rio de Janeiro, Čilić visited children from favelas participating in a social project where he held a training and motivational lecture. He even donated funds for the reconstruction of physics labs and history and geography to the Antun Horvat school, which is an excellent school that, with very modest infrastructure, achieves incredible results with their students. This summer, the Foundation donated to a tennis camp for children, which was organized for free in Vukovar.
