The spectacular New Year's Eve program in Split was announced on Thursday afternoon.
It may only be the beginning of November, but the City of Split has already announced the highly anticipated program for New Year’s Eve. The presentation, which was held on Thursday afternoon, was attended by City of Split Tourist Board Director Alijana Vukšić, organizer Damir Karaman, performers Jasmin Stavros and Željko Baričić of Magazin, and Miljen Chovan who organizes New Year’s Eve at Voćni Trg (Fruit Square), reports Dalmacija Danas on November 8, 2018.
As Karaman initially stated, they did away with their standard music program of two bands and one stellar solo singer, and instead introduced the legendary group Magazin and Croatian pop star Jasmin Stavros this year.
“I’m glad to be the organizer of the New Year's program for the second year. As you saw, last year boasted a phenomenal atmosphere on the Riva with Jole, and hopefully this year will be the same as well,” Karaman said.
"On October 17, the Tourist Board issued a public tender that lasted ten days, and based on the submitted application, which was only one offer, Damir Karaman was selected as the organizer of this year’s New Year's program. Magazin will perform until midnight, followed by Jasmin Stavros. After the offer was received, the Tourist Board unanimously accepted this offer,” concluded Alijana Vukšić.
Željko Baričić from Magazin expressed his satisfaction with the New Year's Eve program and stressed that Magazin gathers a wide range of listeners from the youngest to the oldest, and believes that a big party is guaranteed.
The legendary Jasmin Stavros commented on a spectacular evening ahead as well.
“When I was here ten years ago, there were 50,000 people, and this year I expect even more. I think Magazin and I can create a great atmosphere. Since it’s the New Year I will adapt my performance, and it will be a great repertoire for all ages. I'm happy that I'm in Split. There were interesting offers, but I decided on this. Split is still my hometown,” Stavros said.
Miljen Chovan from the Center for Dance announced that ‘Salsa Split Silvester Nights’ will continue for the 8th consecutive year, which is advertised as the largest "open air" dance floor in Europe. Visitors come from across Europe to a program that is planned over four days. There will be dance workshops and other activities, and all will be concluded by the massive dance party at Voćni Trg.
