Zagreb and Dubrovnik Added to Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe 2019

By 4 February 2019

Zagreb and Dubrovnik, Croatia's foodie hubs, have been added to the Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe for 2019.

Great news for the tourist sector and gastronomy comes from one of the world's leading restaurant guides - the Michelin Guide.

Namely, this year, in the printed edition of the Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe 2019: Restaurants & Hotels, three new cities have been added - and they include Zagreb and Dubrovnik in Croatia and Reykjavik in Iceland, reports HRTurizam on February 4, 2019.

The new Michelin Guide offers a range of restaurants and hotels in 38 European cities.

"Anonymous trained inspectors visit and select restaurants by applying the famous Michelin Food-Star Rating System and use a similar process for hotels. The result: a range of recommended establishments for all tastes and budgets. Travelers can feel confident relying on Michelin since only the best make the cut,” reads the description of the guide

The guide is in English, with recommendations made in alphabetical order by country. Each city in the guide will have a “short description, list the not-to-be-missed points of interest during a quick visit, and highlight specialties of the local cuisine.”

In Croatia, there are currently 62 restaurants labeled with Michelin plates, a symbol that indicates “restaurants where the inspectors have discovered quality food," or stars. According to the Guide, one star signifies "a very good restaurant", two stars "excellent cooking that is worth a detour", and three stars "exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey."

Zagreb restaurants Noel, Apetit City, Zinfandel’s, Takenoko, Mano, Dubravkin put, Boban, Mundoaka, Bistro apetit by Marin Rendić, Agava, Gallo and Le Bistro Esplanade are in the prestigious Michelin Gourmet Guide for 2018, while Pelegrini in Šibenik, 360º in Dubrovnik and Monte in Rovinj boast a Michelin star.

The Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe 2019: Restaurants & Hotels will be available on March 27, 2019.
