Covid19 Emergency: Solidarity from STIP, Association of Court Interpreters & Translators

Pula, March 14, 2020

The Association of Court Interpreters and Translators - STIP and its members have decided to help the community and all who may need assistance in the current situation caused by the Coronavirus, by providing translations of medical documentation and/or phone or video-conference interpreting free of charge to all the persons affected by the virus.

In fact, not only this situation becomes challenging for the infected person, but it is also a struggle for their families, whose financial situation might become an obstacle in coping with this unprecedented moment. Therefore, with our contribution and socially responsible actions we hope to help the community. The Association has more than 50 members, translators and interpreters with different working languages, who are also dealing with numerous cancelled jobs, both meetings and conferences, and they themselves know what it means to be left without any income.  On the other hand, they are aware that the families whose members are directly affected by this virus are the most vulnerable ones. For that reason, we encourage all those families to contact us.

If your family member has been hospitalized, quarantined or is in self-isolation, you might be requested to send medical documentation to the doctor, or you need to forward the documentation to the employer in another country. Maybe they are stuck in isolation in another country and the family would like to contact the doctor, or maybe you know a foreign citizen infected by coronavirus or in isolation in Croatia who does not speak Croatian and needs to communicate with the medical staff. There is a range of situations in which an interpreter or translator may be useful and needed at this time of crisis. Our members are professional translators with great experience, but they are primarily mothers and fathers, daughters and sons, brothers and sisters, and in this way, they wish to contribute to society and offer their time, knowledge and experience while we are forced to avoid human contact and stay in our homes. We kindly ask you to pass this information to all who may need this kind of assistance.

You can request our services via phone or e-mail by contacting our coordinator for Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties:
