Under the arcades of the castle Novi Kraljevica, and in the framework of the cultural routes 'Path of Frankopan', commemorative ceremonies have opened the Visitor Center Kraljevica.
HRTurizam reports that the cultural route "Paths of Frankopan" project is the preservation of cultural heritage of the 17 Frankopan castles and manors and 3 religious edifices. In decorating the center in Kraljevica, 2.6 million kuna was invested by Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the European Union. These cultural tourism routes link the “Paths of Frankopan” with the 17 Frankopan castles and palaces in Kvarner County and 3 religious edifices.
This is part of a project initiated by the Kvarner County with the aim of restoration and sustainable use of the cultural heritage of the famous Croatian family Frankopan. On behalf of Kvarner County, the opening was attended by Deputy Mayor Marko Boras Mandić and heads Goran Petrc and Valerij Jurešić.
"In the area of Kvarner County, the family Frankopan inhabited the area through five centuries and have left numerous testimonies of their influence and power. It is this rich cultural legacy that has committed us to partake in preserving and transmitting to new generations. I am sure that the Visitor Center Kraljevica will make a significant contribution to preserving the cultural heritage of the Kvarner region, and also give a new dimension to the tourist offer of the entire Kvarner County,” said deputy Boras Mandić.
"Visitor Center Kraljevica is only one stage of the project of cultural route ‘Paths of Frankopan’ in which we aimed, with jointly tourism and the local community, to put the castle into operation in order to enrich the life of every resident of our county, and also every visitor," said Head of the department of sports, culture and technical culture, Valerij Jurešić after which he thanked all those who contributed to the realization of the project.
"25 years ago a group of enthusiasts and volunteers raised the issue of revitalization of the castle in Kraljevica. Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the European Union, the project has been realized,” said the mayor of the town of Kraljevica, Nada Turina Duric, who also explained how the project will continue into the next stage, with the coming period focusing on the landscaping of the castle and parking spaces in front of the castle.
After the opening, the participants visited the center where the audience was met with a rich costume display and a detailed presentation on the history of the family Frankopan - indispensable for the identity of the entire Croatian history.
In the future, the visitor and interpretive infrastructure of the center will do a series of centers of which will be a central administration to the Visitors Center Kraljevica. Their networking in the HERA project will enable the setting up of cultural routes "Paths of Frankopan" on the European map of cultural routes and thus certainly boost the tourism potential of the region.
