Zagreb's "Museum of Broken Relationships" Gets a Twin in Los Angeles

By 27 February 2016

Croatian creative ideas spreading through the world.

Modelled on the famous Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, a similar museum will soon be opened in Los Angeles, reports Index.hr on February 27, 2016.

"We will get your own Museum of Broken Relationships in May, at 6751 Hollywood Blvd., near Hollywood and Highland areas. It will feature about 70 exhibits from the Croatian museum and about 30 additional exhibits donated by the citizens of Los Angeles. If you want to donate something that reminds you of the events which broke your heart, go ahead. It could be a cathartic experience", writes LA Weekly.

"Each exhibit will be presented with its own story and the details about your relationship, but only the museum staff will get to know your real name. The items can be just about anything you can think of, provided it is connected with your broken relationship. For example, the museum in Zagreb has exhibited a pair of artificial breasts which a husband once asked his wife to put on during sex", explains the article.

Before the opening of the museum, a series of special events will take place. Enthusiastic Americans have invited all those interested in the new museum to follow them on Twitter and Instagram.

The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb was founded by Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić, two artists who have spent four years in a relationship before they broke up in 2003.
