We Europeans have come to love Japanese cuisine, so why not send them some of our own?
It's no secret that the Japanese are huge lovers of Croatia and Japanese citizens can be seen roaming almost all imaginable areas of the country during all times of the year. In fact, just yesterday we reported on the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Croatia and Japan, with sushi, of course!
While Japan sees more and more of its travel-hungry nationals turning up on Croatia's shores every year to soak up the culture, history, and of course, the food - it was high time that Croatia gave the country a bit of thanks, in the form of no less than the very popular Croatian baklava.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 7th of March, 2018, thanks to the encouragement of the MGPO, the New Bakery company launched the project "Product Promotion of Enterprises through participation on foreign fairs".
Within the bid of the MGPO entitled ''The internationalisation of businesses for small and medium-sized enterprises" the New Bakery company from Lukavac, won almost one million kuna for the promotion of its mouthwatering products at numerous foreign fairs.
The very welcome funds awarded by the MGPO are intended to represent domestic companies on external, global markets to increase the share of small and medium-sized enterprises in their total exports of goods and services. Lokalni.hr writes that the company in question deals with the production of handmade baklava, a well-known, classic and alltime favourite dessert all along the eastern Mediterranean, with several regional countries claiming it as their own and having various different takes on what it should look, taste, and even feel like.
Otherwise, the New Bakery company is ahead of its own game, and exports 96 percent of its revenue to overseas markets. Their exports go to other powerful European countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Switzerland, as well as further afield, all the way across the Atlantic to the United States. The company also has plans to expand its market reach to other countries in Europe, but also to reach as far as other continents.
Namely, this year, we're aiming to penetrate the Japanese market, but also to reveal our brand in the regional market as well as in the countries that once made up the now former Soviet Union. We think we've got something to offer, and in those less developed countries, baklava is certainly a favourite dessert,'' stated Emira Jakupović, Manager of New Bakery.
New Bakery is currently preparing to participate in four international fairs in Germany, France and even in the United Arab Emirates, with plans in the works to conclude five new contracts with various international partners.
