It isn't like Mate Rimac and Rimac Automobili really needed any more praise from the media, but still, it keeps on coming...
Mate Rimac is without a shred of a doubt the most successful entrepreneurial story to come out of the country in an extremely long time, if not, ever.
In a land where negativity spreads like wildfire and the sense of feeling helpless when it comes to trying to tackle notorious red tape and nightmarish bureaucracy, it isn't much of a surprise to read many a tale about Croatian startups having their seats abroad, even in the capitals of close neighbours such as Ljubljana in Slovenia, just because the procedures there are so much more easily dealt with.
Quite some time ago, we reported on the case of a young man attempting to set up a company here in Croatia, and if that isn't enough of a ridiculously needless headache, the fact that he had to wait weeks only to be told that the desired name for his would-be company had too much of a connection with the Catholic church, and had therefore been denied, is enough to raise even the most seasoned eyebrow. You just couldn't make it up.
The grass is never greener on the other side, and Croatia isn't the worst, but it could be enormously better than it is. The senseless obstacles placed in the way of those who simply want to do well for themselves, make money legally and in fact do the entire country (and its government) a favour are simply unjustifiable, especially in a country so well known and famed for its innovative talent in a wide variety of professional fields.
Negativity is easily blown away by the story of one man, Mate Rimac. In a country where even saints get criticised, it is astounding to hear the collective glee whenever Rimac and his outstanding company are mentioned, and it isn't without reason.
Top Speed has published its mid-year review, a list of six of the most important cars of this year, with Rimac's stunning Concept_Two deservedly appearing first.
In addition to a beautiful photo and a video of the supercar, Top Speed goes on to detail how the Concept_Two was revealed after the wild success received by the Concept_One, making sure to add how it beat the Tesla Roadster. It states that Rimac's Concept_Two is a ''sort of a eureka point this year so far'', adding that the Croats had ''done the unfathomable'' by revealing a car that could rewrite the whole premise of a supercar.
