Lucija and several friends barricaded themselves in a room

At least nine persons were wounded, one of them critically, in a shooting that took place on Monday at Ohio State university in the American town of Columbus, with the suspected assailant killed, police sources have confirmed, Jutarnji List reported on November 28, 2016.

According to the latest information, the attackers was identified as 18-year-old Abdul Razak Ali Artan, a Somali national with immigrant status in the US.

Among the almost 60.000 students in Ohio is Šibenik native Lucija Jurković Periša, a perspective young swimmer, who came to study in this academic year.

Lucija is fortunately well, but quite shaken, while her coach from the Swimming Club Šibenik Marijan Tepić recounted her story for Šibenski Portal.

“We’ve talked and she was very frightened. It all happened close to where she lives on campus, some 500 metres from her apartment. They had just returned from lunch and were getting ready for lectures when the shooting started,” Tepić said.

After the attack started, Lucija and several friends barricaded themselves in a room.

“They shut the doors and pushed chairs and other furniture on the door and waited,” he added. And after the crisis was over, she went to practice. “What can she do, she must train,” Tepić concluded.
