Croatian Cheese Among Best in the World Again

Paski sir by Gligora voted “Best Central and Eastern Europe cheese” at the World Cheese Awards

Gligora cheese factory from island Pag in Croatia has topped the World Cheese Awards for the fourth time, states the press release sent by the factory on December 7, 2015.

World Cheese Awards were held in Birmingham, November 25-29 and 2727 cheeses from 2 countries competed for coveted trophies. All cheeses were judged by an expert panel comprising of 250 referees from 22 countries, and after the announcement of 62 Super Gold medal winners, “Super Jury” selected the best 16 cheeses of the competition.

Gligora’s Paški sir iz komine maraske (Pag cheese from Maraska cherry refuse) was one of the top 16 and won a trophy as the “Best Central and Eastern Europe cheese” while the Swiss Le Gruyere was selected as the this year’s champion.

This is the fourth cheese from the Pag cheese factory to receive such a coveted international award, last year Gligora’s Dinarski sir was the total championship runner up.
