Youth Arrested for ''Threatening'' Andrej Plenkovic on Facebook

A 21 year old man has been apprehended for allegedly threatening PM Andrej Plenkovic on social media.

As Index reports on the 18th of June, 2017, on Friday the 16th of June, 2017, a 21 year old man who has not yet been publicly named was arrested in the Croatian capital after reportedly publishing content on Facebook that was deemed to be threatening to Croatia's Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic.

Although Index writes that the information they obtained on the situation is unofficial, the police confirmed to the Croatian media giant that the suspect had indeed been arrested on suspicion of committing the offense of making threats through social media networks, and he is now held at the competent state attorney's office.

The authorities also confirmed to Index that his exact charge was that of an offense described in Article 139 of the Criminal Code (paragraphs two and three), the first of which prescribes penalties for threats of death or serious bodily injury.

It is not yet known how the post on Facebook came to public attention and through what means it came to be reported or to the attention of the police. The exact contents of the apparently threatening post remain unknown.
