Thursday 7th September: Fire outbreak
Just when we are all welcoming the summer coming to an end and autumn making its presence felt after what has been one of the hottest and busiest summers, particularly for the firefighters of Dalmatia; another fire has just now broken out in Krilo.
Commander of the Dugi Rat fire brigade, Pave Tomic just informed Dalmacija Danas that a fire broke out around 20:15 above the line of houses in Krilo among pine forest and vegetation. The fire started just metres away from the highway.
The fire is spreading rapidly due to the strong southern wind - Jugo. If the fire keeps rising into the hills, it will reach inaccessible terrain, which 'does not go hand-in-hand', Pavic told Dalmacija Danas.
Firefighters from Dugi Rat and Omiš are currently battling the blaze.
