The Agrokor earthquake continues to cause aftershocks...
Just when you thought it was all over! Okay, maybe you didn't, partially because we at TCN can't get enough of writing about the Agrokor crisis (guilty as charged, sorry).
What is quite amazing to see is just how negatively the entire situation is still affecting the country after so many months. In the half a year since the Ivica Todorić shaped bombshell first hit the nation, causing a massive threat to the economy and a huge political fallout, very little seems to have altered despite the now somewhat calmer atmosphere, and incovenience after inconvenience seems to follow.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 3rd of November, 2017, Zagreb's long-standing mayor Milan Bandić said a week ago at a session of the City Assembly meeting that the ailing Agrokor company is indebted and obliged to pay a huge 17.5 million kuna to the City of Zagreb.
Owing to this, as of November the 10th, Zagreb Holding (Zagrebački Holding) will withdraw ZET tickets from all of Tisak's sales outlets in a necessary but extremely unwelcome move as far as the general public is concerned.
This is yet another dire consequence of Agrokor's unpaid, massive debts. This time the debt is to both the City of Zagreb, in the amount of the aforementioned 17.5 million kuna, but also to Zagreb Holding, in the amount of about 67 million kuna.
Milan Bandić pointed out to HRT that negotiations and efforts to solve this issue are indeed underway, but that before anything, Zagreb aims to protect its assets ''to the very end''.
