Earthquake Shakes Šibenik in Middle of Night

An earthquake was felt near Šibenik in the early hours of Tuesday morning. 

The Seismological Service of the Republic of recorded a rather strong earthquake with an epicenter 15 kilometers west of Žirje in the Šibenik archipelago in the early hours of Tuesday morning, said seismologist Igor Mandić for Index.hr on January 30, 2018. 

The earthquake was recorded on Tuesday morning at 1:04 am, with the magnitude of the earthquake coming in at 3.7 on the Richter scale. The intensity in the epicenter was recorded ‘V’ on the Mercalli-Cancani-Sieberg scale.

For now, there is no information as to whether the earthquake caused any damage, but witnesses on the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center page say they felt a short but strong blow. The sensation was felt in the area of Dalmatia, predominantly Šibenik, Vodice and Zadar.
