By 29 July 2015

The Croatian Eco Heritage Task Force comes to the island of Vis.

Croatian Heritage Foundation has for many years organized Eco Heritage Task Force. The project brings together 40 young Croats from around the world and their friends. Through work, organized trips and Croatian language courses, they get to know the homeland of their ancestors.

This year, the host of the project is the town of Vis, where the youngsters will work on environmental protection and the restoration of the planned sports, health and recreational resort at the former military barracks Samogor. This year's participants come from a dozen different countries around the world, and most are descendants of second and third generation of Croatian emigrants. By coming here, they strengthen the ties with the homeland of their fathers and grandfathers, but also get to know the rich cultural heritage of Croatia. The project is very popular because it allows making a connection with the local community, which often gives birth to new friendships.

Participants of Eco Heritage Task Force in 2015 will also take part in trip to Komiža and the island of Biševo, and in a special visit to the island of Hvar.

The final event will to be held on August 12th on the island of Vis. The participants will present everything they did during the three-week stay. It will undoubtedly be an interesting and eventful evening. By leaving a lasting mark on the local community, the project Eco Heritage Task Force will strengthen ties between Croatia and Croatian diaspora.
