PM Milanovic Holds Press Conference on reports about Tomislav Salopek's reported killing.
"Unfortunately, I have to be the one to interrupt this silence. It is my duty to inform the Croatian public that, at this moment, we cannot confirm with 100% certainty that the news is true, what we are seeing is horrible and unfortunately, we might not have the confirmation in the next few days either". This was the opening statement of the Croatian Prime Minister at his press conference in Banski Dvori which started at 17:01.
Zoran Milanović once again appealed to both the media and the public not to download, publish, share or expose children to the disturbing images available online.
"Croatian government is in contact with all foreign agencies and we won't stop searching as long as there is even the slightest hope that Tomislav Salopek is still alive. I am affraid that what has been happening to individuals of other nationalities happened to tomislav. Husband, father, provider, he went abroad to earn a living " - Milanović continued.
Answering journalist's question on whether Croatia will rasie its security level and if Croatia will join the international fight against ISIS, Milanović stated:
"We must continue to live normally. This is an attempt of some people to destroy our way of life. If fear takes over, that won't be good. Croatia will not join any of the actions agains the so called Islamic State".
In closing Milanović noted that security agencies have tried to confirmed the authenticity of the published photo today, but no additional information will be released at this time.
