Crowdfunding Project to Help Provide Baby Slings to Refugees

By 17 September 2015

Croatia hasn't forgotten that not so long ago, we had a humanitarian crisis of our own and many organisations, associations and individuals are extending a helping hand to provide the refugees with everyday necessities. Newest initiative is called Lighten the Load: Helping Syrian Mothers and it is organised by an association "Budimo ljudi" (Let's be human) and Brodoto.

Here is what they said about their project:

We want to help young families escaping war and persecution with baby slings so that they can carry their babies to safety. Our partners (Association Roda) are already collecting used baby slings, but there are more mothers that need our help and support!

We will crowdfund at least 100 strong, non-toxic baby slings made by a women-run textile cooperative Kamensko. 100 baby slings won’t stop this humanitarian catastrophe, but for the most vulnerable - mothers and their babies - it will mean an easier travel to the destination. This means not only less weight on mothers’ hands, but also an opportunity to feel more human.

We believe that successful campaign will encourage organizations around Europe to start sending us used baby slings.

If you want to join, go to their FACEBOOK PAGE. Campaign will start on September 21st so keep following their event page for updates.
