HGSS receives the 2015 European Citizen's Prize
Just a few days upon receiving the Higgins & Langley Award which honoured their exemplary response during May floods, Croatian Mountain Rescue Service received another accolade today, the European Citizen award.
Croatian Mountain Rescue Service is one of the 47 recipients of the European Citizen's Prize for 2015, awarded by the European Parliament. They were presented with their medals today by Croatia?s MEP Tonino Picula who also nominated them for the award.
While presenting the HGSS director Vinko Prizmić with the award, Tonino Picula commented:"This award is going into the right hands because you contribute greatly to the society which we live in. By nominating you, I w volunteers don't look at the clock or date on the calendar when it comes to rescuing people. This award is not only given to the current members of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, but also to all the generations that will come after us".
Members of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service will also attend the central awards ceremony which will be held in Brussels on October 14-15.
