20% Less People Registered with Croatian Employment Service in April

May the 13th, 2022 - The number of individuals registered as unemployed at the Croatian Employment Service dropped by an encouraging 20 percent back in April, which, while hope giving, occurs annually due to Croatia's seasonality when it comes to labour. Expulsion of Germans From Krndija at End-WWII Commemorated

ZAGREB, 11 May 2022 - Vertreibungstag was observed in Krndija near Đakovo on Wednesday in memory of the day at the end of WWII when the Partisans expelled the majority German population and turned the village into a labour camp for villagers who had not left their homes and other members of the German community. A prayer was said at the memorial at the local cemetery, wreaths were laid and candles lit. Holy See State Secretary arrives in Zagreb

ZAGREB, 11 May 2022 - The Vatican's State Secretary, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, arrived in Zagreb on Tuesday for a three-day visit during which he will meet with the highest Croatian religious and political leaders, the Zagreb Archdiocese said in a statement. Parolin is visiting Croatia on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its recognition and the 25th anniversary of the ratification of three agreements between the Holy See and Croatia. HZZ: 118,922 Persons Registered as Jobless at End of April

ZAGREB, 11 May 2022 - At the end of April, 118,922 job-seekers were registered with the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), a drop of 5.3% on the month and of 20% on the year. April was the third consecutive month to see a monthly decline in the number of job-seekers, and compared to March, there were 6,682 fewer jobless persons. May 11, 2022 - Osijek native Mia Dimšić represented Croatia with the song 'Guilty Pleasure' on the first semifinal night of the Eurovision Song Contest but failed to reach the final of the competition.
