Moscow Protests Over Croatian FM's "Insulting" Language

28 March 2022 - Russia has lodged a strong protest with Croatia after Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman called Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal, the Russian Embassy in Zagreb said in a statement.   Insulting language and unfounded accusations against the President of the Russian Federation are absolutely unacceptable, the statement said. Red Cross Croatia Says Has Raised HRK 1.8M for Ukrainian Refugees

Eurostat: Croatia Catches Up with Latvia on GDP Per Capita

28 March 2022 - In 2021, Luxembourg and Ireland recorded the highest levels of GDP per capita expressed in purchasing power standards, while Croatia overtook Slovakia and ranked alongside Latvia, according to Eurostat's flash estimate.  Luxembourg's GDP per capita was 177% above the EU average, while Ireland's was 121% above. The high GDP per capita in Luxembourg is partly due to the country's large share of cross-border workers in total employment. European Commission Okays Croatia's Aid Scheme for Maritime Sector, Transport, Infrastructure

28 March 2022 - The European Commission on Monday approved Croatia's €7.5 million state aid scheme for the maritime sector, transport and transport infrastructure affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The state aid will be used to cover fixed costs incurred from March 2020 to June 2020. Enterprises that suffered at least a 30 percent decline in their revenue in this period compared to the corresponding period in 2019 are eligible to this aid. Croatia Logs 143 New Coronavirus Cases, 14 Deaths

28 March 2022 - Croatia has recorded 143 new coronavirus cases and 14 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team reported on Monday. Currently, 656 infected people are being treated in hospital and 36 of them are on ventilators. The number of active cases stands at 8,697, and 6,381 persons are self-isolating. Since 25 February 2020, when the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in the country, 1,094,202 people have been registered as having been infected with the novel coronavirus, of whom 15,534 have died. Up to €173M to be Necessary in Scenario that Croatia Cares for 20,000 Refugees

28 March 2022 - The Jutarnji List daily on Monday commented on recent estimates presented by Interior Minister Davor Božinović that in the scenario that Croatia should care for 20,000 refugees, this would cost HRK 1.3 billion annually provided that the refugees exercise all the rights they are entitled to.
