Caritas Croatia Raises €333K For Ukraine

ZAGREB, 16 March 2022 - Caritas Croatia has raised HRK 2.5 million for the Ukraine war victims and is currently collecting material relief, the charity said on Wednesday. There have been about 44,000 calls to a donation line and Caritas will forward all the money raised to Ukraine. People may bring their material relief donations to Caritas warehouses or parishes. New Land Consolidation Bill Presented In Parliament

ZAGREB, 16 March 2022- Agriculture Minister Marija Vučković on Wednesday presented a new land consolidation bill aimed at facilitating the integration of small and irregular parcels into bigger and more regular ones as prerequisites for increasing production, cultivating land, and upgrading local infrastructure. The money set aside to apply the law will help to consolidate 18,000 hectares, but there is interest in consolidating more, the minister said in parliament. HRT Television Channels Get New Editor-In-Chief

ZAGREB, 16 March 2022 - HRT director-general Robert Šveb on Wednesday decided to appoint Rahela Štefanović the editor-in-chief of the national broadcaster's television channels HTV1, HTV2, HTV3, HTV4 and its international channel. Štefanović's appointment followed after 79.78% of the editors, journalists and photo-journalists of the HRT who participated in a non-binding advisory vote supported her nomination. There are 1,356 journalists and staffers eligible to take part in this kind of vote, and 178 or 13.13% participated in it. Croatia's Leading Dairy Producer Increases Buy-Up Price Of Milk

February Inflation Of 6.3% Highest Since August 2008

ZAGREB, 16 March 2022 - In February 2022, compared to February 2021, the prices of goods and services for personal consumption increased by 6.3%, the most since August 2008, when annual inflation was 7.1%, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday. Croatia Logs 2,659 New COVID Cases, 10 Related Deaths

ZAGREB, 16 March 2022 - Croatia has registered 2,659 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours and ten people have died as a consequence, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Wednesday. There are currently 10,240 active cases while 6,512 people are self-isolating. There are 712 hospitalised patients, 44 of whom are on ventilators. Croatia has registered a total of 1,077,365 cases of COVID-19 since its outbreak in February 2020 and 15,383 people have died as a consequence while 1,051,742 have recovered from the contagion.
