Zagreb: Mayor Tomašević To Attend Commemoration for Zec Family

ZAGREB, 7 Dec, 2021 - The Serb National Council (SNV) said on Tuesday that Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević would pay his respects to Aleksandra Zec and her family as the first representative of the City of Zagreb to do so in the past 30 years. Parliament: Companies To Be Granted HRK 400m for Energy Renovation

ZAGREB, 7 Dec, 2021 - The state secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ivo Milatić, said on Tuesday that in addition to HRK 390 million set aside for the energy renovation of family housing, as much money would also be allocated to companies for the same purpose. Croatia Reports 3,262 New Coronavirus Cases, 60 Deaths

ZAGREB, 7 Dec, 2021 - Croatia has registered 3,262 new coronavirus cases and 60 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team said on Tuesday, The number of active cases in the country currently stands at 25,107 and among them are 2,436 infected people who are receiving hospital treatment, including 319 who are on ventilators. A total of 20,937 persons are self-isolating. To date, 3,522,521 people have tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, including 10,244 in the last 24 hours. Croatian Border Police Seize More Than 300,000 Packets of Cigarettes

ZAGREB, 7 Dec, 2021 - A 49-year-old Greek national was arrested at the eastern border crossing of Tovarnik on Sunday for trying to smuggle into Croatia more than 300,000 packets of cigarettes in a truck with Bulgarian licence plates. The driver was arrested and placed in custody, the Vukovar-Srijem County police said. The cigarettes and the truck were confiscated to secure the payment of HRK 5.7 million (€760,000) in excise tax. Serbian Civil Society Activists Accuse Croatian Police of Brutality Towards Migrants

ZAGREB, 7 Dec, 2021 - Currently there are over 4,000 Afghan refugees and migrants along the border between Serbia and Croatia, often encountering the brutality of the Croatian police after crossing the border, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation told a press conference in Belgrade on Monday.  Vladan Jeremić, the Foundation's representative for Southeast Europe, said that collective expulsions, abuse and arbitrary arrests had been going on at the Serbian-Croatian border since 2016 despite the efforts by civil society organisation to prevent such things from happening. EU: Council Agrees Position on Two Labour-Related Draft Laws

ZAGREB, 7 Dec, 2021 - The Council of the European Union on Monday agreed a common position on two draft laws - on pay transparency and on adequate minimum wages in the EU.  The Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council, which was attended by the Croatian Minister for Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy, Josip Aladrović, agreed the common position based on which member states will negotiate with the European Parliament the final texts of the two laws.
