September 11, 2021 - It's not easy for anyone not from Imotski to understand the connection the people of the town have with the Mercedes Benz cars, but one Austrian lady seems to embrace it stronger than most. We've written about the connections between the inland Dalmatian town of Imotski and the Mercedes Benz cars in the past, including their plans to build a monument to their beloved car. Panel: Green Transition Must Be Just; Transport, Building Renovation Top Challenges

ZAGREB, 11 Sept, 2021 - The green transition must be just and Croatia's biggest challenges are transport and the energy renovation of buildings, heard a panel on the challenges and opportunities provided by the European Green Deal, held in Fažana on Saturday. "There is no green transition without a just social transition," said Lidija Pavić-Rogošić, a member of the European Economic and Social Committee. Dalibor Paus Elected New IDS President

ZAGREB, 11 Sept, 2021 - The head of Barban Municipality, Dalibor Paus, is the new president of the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS), it was decided at the parliamentary party's 34th election assembly in Poreč on Saturday. Paus said the "IDS is entering a new development phase today" during which it would undergo restructuring and introduce a new management model based on transparency and excellence, with the goal to make Istria County even stronger and more developed. Grbin Says He Feels Stupid Because of SDP Member Suspected of Faking Threats

ZAGREB, 11 Sept, 2021 - Social Democratic Party president Peđa Grbin said on Saturday he felt stupid because of SDP member Stjepan Kovač, who made up threats over which Grbin comforted him, but would not talk about his future in the party until he talked to him. Union Says Anti-Maskers’ School Invasion Should Be Condemned, Punished

ZAGREB, 11 Sept, 2021 - The Preporod union of school employees on Saturday condemned the anti-maskers who invaded the elementary school in Krapinske Toplice yesterday, saying it was not a protest but a threat to the safety and mental health of those who were present, which should be condemned and punished. Posavec Resigns as Međimurje County Head, Granted Pre-Trial Release

Croatian Immunologist to Head EU Federation With 14,000 Researchers

ZAGREB, 11 Sept, 2021 - Croatian immunologist Bojan Polić of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka has been elected President-elect of the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) for 2022-2024, Večernji List newspaper said on Saturday. Polić was elected at a recent EFIS  general assembly on behalf of the Croatian Immunological Society. He received 38 votes, while his rival candidate gained 10 votes. Croatia Logs 1,162 New Coronavirus Cases, 14 Deaths

ZAGREB, 11 Sept, 2021 - Croatia has registered 1,162 new coronavirus cases and 14 COVID-19-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national COVID-19 response team said on Saturday. A total of 559 infected persons are receiving hospital treatment and 55 of them are on ventilators. Currently there are 6,143 active cases in the country, and 12,937 people are self-isolating. Music Publishers Appeal to MPs Not to Adopt Proposed Copyright Bill

ZAGREB, 11 Sept, 2021 - International associations of music publishers and independent publishing companies have called on members of the Croatian Parliament not to adopt the Copyright and Related Rights Bill because it will destroy the Croatian music industry.
