ZAGREB, 18 July, 2021 - Croatian journalist and long-standing Rome and Vatican correspondent Silvije Tomašević, 71, has died from a grave illness, the Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) reported on Sunday. Tomašević, born in Zagreb on 6 November 1949, started his journalistic career in 1970 in the Večernji List daily. He worked for the print and electronic media. He was a correspondent from Italy for many media outlets in Croatia, including the Croatian national news agency Hina. Tomašević also collaborated with the BBC and the Deutsche Welle. ZAGREB, 18 July, 2021 -  The head of the fund for the post-quake reconstruction, Damir Vanđelić, said on Sunday that the size of the new dwellings to be provided to people, who were left homeless in the devastating quakes in 2020, would depend on the number of the household's members, as envisaged by the relevant law. July 18, 2021 - The music festival and concert industry has been among the hardest hit by the pandemic, and in order to help the organizers, the Ministry of Culture has decided to co-finance rapid antigen tests in cooperation with the Croatian Music Union. ZAGREB, 18 July, 2021 - According to the 2011 census, as many as 150 settlements and villages in Croatia have become uninhabited, and most of such unpopulated places are in the municipality of Delnice in the Rijeka hinterland and in Karlovac and Istria counties, the Večernji List daily reported on Sunday. ZAGREB, 18 July, 2021- Gross premiums written by Croatian insurance companies in the first six months of 2021 totalled HRK 6.4 billion, which is a 13.1% increase year-on-year, show data released by the Croatian Insurance Bureau (HUO). Gross non-life insurance premiums increased by 13.1% to HRK 4.8 billion, and gross life insurance premiums went up by 13.3% to HRK 1.6 billion.
