Activist Must Pay €8,000 for Helping Migrants to Illegally Cross the Border

ZAGREB, 15 Dec 2021 - Croatia's High Misdemeanor Court has dismissed the appeal lodged by Dragan Umičević, an activist of the  Are You Syrious, against a fine of HRK 60,000  imposed on him after he had helped a group of migrants in March 2018 to illegally cross the Croatian border, the Jutarnji List reported on Wednesday. HNB: Perceived Inflation Rate Exceeds 24%

ZAGREB, 14 Dec 2021 - In the past few months inflation perception has grown strongly and the perceived inflation rate now exceeds 24%, which is much higher than the realized consumer inflation rate of 3.8% in October, the central bank (HNB) has said. Opposition MP: Court to Be Asked to Test Constitutionality of COVID Certificates

ZAGREB, 14 Dec 2021 - Sandra Benčić of the Green-Left Bloc (ZLB) on Tuesday said that they had collected 34 lawmakers' signatures to file an appeal to the Constitutional Court to test the constitutionality of COVID-certificates. Plenković: 2022 Essential Because of Accession to Schengen and Euro Area

ZAGREB, 14 Dec 2021 - Next year is very important because we expect a final decision on Croatia's accession to the Schengen and euro areas, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Tuesday, recalling that Croatia has access to about €25 billion from European sources for this decade. Closing Conference Held for Project Aimed at Improving Quality of Higher Education

ZAGREB, 14 Dec 2021 - The Agency for Science and Higher Education on Tuesday held a closing conference for a project aimed at improving the quality of higher education, describing the project as an important step in developing the Croatian higher education system. The value of the project, launched in 2016, was HRK 20 million, of which 85 percent was provided by the European Social Fund. Milanović Decorates Participants in Croatian Spring

ZAGREB, 13 Dec 2021 - President Zoran Milanović decorated some participants of the Croatian Spring on Monday with the Grand Order of King Dmitar Zvonimir with Sash and the Croatian Morning Star for their outstanding contribution to Croatia's independence and integrity as well as to the building and progress of the Croatian state.
