The activists warned that 75% of Croatia's territory might fall under gas and oil exploration concessions and they branded Environment Protection and Energy Minister Tomislav Ćorić "as a minister of fossil fuels". They demanded his resignation due to the government's plan to award gas and oil exploration concessions for 16 new sites stretching from eastern Croatia through the Zagreb and Lika-Senj…

MOST Wants Prime Minister Plenković to Resign

ZAGREB, July 16, 2019 – MOST leader Božo Petrov said on Tuesday that instead of reshuffling his cabinet, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković should end his premiership. "It would be fair of the Prime Minister to step down. You can remember how many times he has said that this is his cabinet, he has been saying that for three years," Petrov said underscoring that it means that the premier should take over the full responsibility for the latest developments rather than insisting on a cabinet reshuffle. Petrov reiterated the position of this opposition party that the resignation of State Assets Minister…

Vukovar Mayor Ivan Penava said on Sunday that dialogue and cooperation among local residents and ethnic Serbs in that eastern Croatian town was at a satisfactory level and any increase in the volume of rights of that ethnic minority would deteriorate the relations among local communities. ZAGREB, July 15, 2019 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said in Dubrovnik on Monday the demographic challenge was crucial for the survival of the Croatian nation, adding that the government's measures had resulted in 400 more newborns in 2018 than in 2017. Zdravko Marić Reveals When Euro Will Become Croatia's Currency

The introduction of the euro as Croatia's official currency, thus replacing the Croatian kuna, has been the subject of much talk and heated debate. While some are completely for the move for practical reasons, others are sad to see the kuna go, seeing the introduction of the euro as a loss of Croatia's precious identity, which was so hard-won. The debate about Croatia's imminent entry into the formerly highly problematic Eurozone continues to go on, with frightening memories of the Greek crisis still fresh in many a mind. Some are even demanding a referendum on the adoption of the euro,…
