Croatian Police to Start Removing Slovenian Barbed Wire From Joint Border

By 11 November 2015

As Slovenia starts constructing its wire fence with Croatia, it appears that part of it has strayed across the border.

Five vans of special police have turned up on the Croatian side with the intention to remove a part of the Slovenian razor wire fence which it is claimed was placed on the wrong side. Meanwhile on the Slovenian side a bunch of vehicles has also arrived, reports N1Info on November 11, 2015.

Croatian Minister Ostojić said: "We will just alert them they entered Croatian territory and to remove their fence. If they do not then we will send a note, and then remove the fence ourselves."

Minister Ostojić said that building the fence is a waste of money and the Slovenes ought instead to fulfil the agreed obligations. Better to build temporary reception centres for the winter. Instead they are giving the signal that the borders are closing which will have the opposite effect than intended and cause an even bigger rush of people.

Ostojić has asked for a new meeting of ministers as teleconferencing did not seem to be effective.
