Croatia Elections: MOST Expels Prgomet From the Party

By 12 November 2015

Bridge over troubled water?

After Drago Prgomet, one of the leaders of MOST secretly met with Zoran Milanović it didn't take long for a reaction from MOST. According to the statement sent out to the press on Novmber 12, 2015, Drago Prgomet met with Zoran Milanović without consulting the other members of the MOST platform.

Here is the entire statement from MOST:

"MOST Association of independent lists, as a political platform which gathers independent mayors and individuals not through standard party membership but through an open membership doesn't have the classical model when it comes to expelling its members from the party. Togetherness in MOST is characterised by trust we have in each other.

Because of extreme public focus on whether we are homogenous, on our National council assembly held on November 11, 2015 we agreed on a joint action to stop all media speculations about the stability of MOST. After the assembly where all newly elected parliament representatives were present, delegation of four including Drago Prgomet participated in official negotiations with HDZ and SDP and representatives of their coalitions and after the negotiations three members returned to the second part of our assembly.

Unfortunately, while all other members of the National committee and newly elected parliament members of MOST continued with our internal consultations, Drago Prgomet continued negotiations with Milanović without our knowledge. Because of a complete breach of trust, National committee of MOST decided to discontinue any form of cooperation with Drago Prgomet. With this decision, National committee of MOST does not consider Drago Prgomet its member, and Drago Prgomet will keep his parliament seat which is something we respect, regardless of whether he will continue to act independently with MOST or join another political option“ the press release states.

As they say, the plot thickens.....
