Miro Bulj says that some of Prime Minister’s statements are unreasonable.
MOST’s member of Parliament Miro Bulj sharply criticized Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, and announced that he would vote for the dismissal of Finance Minister Zdravko Marić, reports Nacional on April 18, 2017.
Although he did vote in parliament for the so-called “Lex Agrokor”, Bulj gave an interview to Nacional which any uninformed observer might think was an interview of a member of one of the opposition parties, and not of a party which is in a coalition with HDZ. Bulj said he would vote for the dismissal of Finance Minister Zdravko Marić if opposition launched the proceedings for his dismissal. He also said he would file criminal complaint against Governor of Croatian National Bank Boris Vujčić due to abuse of office and authority.
Bulj said that Finance Minister Zdravko Marić knew that Agrokor was borrowing funds through fictitious bills of exchange in the amount of 10 billion kuna. “Of course he knew, just like his predecessor Lalovac and others knew as well. Marić was a high-ranking official within Agrokor and he had to know. The problem is that, due to his connection with Agrokor, he did not take part in making decisions in the most difficult moment for Croatia after the Homeland War. Croatia had no minister of finance,” said Bulj, adding that voting for “Lex Agrokor” was not an easy decision, but he did it because he hoped the law would protect jobs in Agrokor.
Bulj said that Marić and Vujčić should resign due to the Agrokor case. “Marić should resign, as well as Governor Vujčić and the council for financial stability. All guilty persons should be held responsible, not only regarding prison sentences, but their property should be seized.” Although he said he would vote for the dismissal of Marić, Bulj insisted that was his “personal decision” and that he did not know how other MOST’s MPs would vote.
Bulj also criticized a recent statement made by Prime Minister Plenković, who in the context of the Agrokor drama said that he would not allow anyone to use law-enforcement institutions as part of a campaign for local elections. Prime Minister reacted to statements of some of MOST’s ministers who control parts of the law enforcement system. “It is sad that the Prime Minister gave such a statement. It is unreasonable thing to say, unless he wants to protect someone. I call on all the institutions to do their jobs in the shortest possible time, and not to wait for the elections to be over. I am ready to immediately withdraw my candidacy and not participate in the elections if that will make it easier for the Prime Minister.”
Bulj also commented on the recent outrage expressed by President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, who after a long silence suddenly “remembered” that the owner of Agrokor, Ivica Todorić, lives in a palace. “Her predecessors also kept quiet about Agrokor, although they knew everything. The President has been elected by the people and she has certain powers. Among other things, she is also the head of the National Security Council and she should have long ago convened a session due to the situation in Agrokor. The President’s reaction should have happened much earlier,” said Bulj.
