Agrokor's former top dog claims that the way he has been treated would never have occurred in a democratic country without a valid court ruling.
No longer ''on the run'' (although he claims he wasn't), and since his arrest in the British capital and the restrictions that follow it, Ivica Todorić undoubtedly has more time on his hands and may offer us an even more in depth look into his thoughts on the new and less than comfortable situation he now faces.
As usual, we bring you the ex Agrokor boss' latest blog post, which was written on the 8th of November, 2017, translated in full into English below:
''Political persecution of the worst kind has been being waged against me since the beginning of this year, and the highest government officials have confirmed that every day. This proves a whole series of irresponsible, deliberate political moves and statements from criminal complaints of the then President of the Parliament (Božo Petrov), criminal complaints and statements by the Deputy Prime Minister, the [passing of] the unconstitutional Lex [Agrokor], giving five million kuna from DORH's budget to the investigation [into Agrokor], which is only one side in the procedure, a grotesque roll up [loan] that opened up the gates of plunder approved by the government, up to the latest scandalous criticism of the English judiciary from Prime Minister Plenković. Incredibly, the prime minister, apparently shaken by yesterday's ruling, has called upon Croatian institutions to seek out explanations from the English court. He gives them a direct public order for action, just as [he did] one month ago when he asked institutions to complete their work within the deadline.
This is unimaginable in a democratic country, the tripartite government is the foundation upon which the state functions and upon which human rights are based. Plenković has obviously decided to suspend human rights and all the fundamental principles of the rule of law. The fact that state officials prejudge guilt, and clearly highlight me as guilty without trial, is unthinkable in the democratic world without a valid court ruling.''
