''Damages to Agrokor, but also to the Republic of Croatia, are being measured in billions''
In his latest blog entry, posted on the 21st of November, 2017, Ivica Todorić discusses what he believes to be the level of unconstitutionality of the Lex Agrokor law, how that law was not adopted by three neighbouring nations owing to its framework, and his belief that the government has acted and continues to act illegally and unethically in respect to both himself and to Agrokor.
As usual, we bring you the former Agrokor boss' latest blog post translated into English in full below:
''Lex Agrokor is deeply unconstitutional and therefore I will submit a proposal to review its approval [discover level of consent] of [the law] with the constitution of the Republic of Croatia this week at the Constitutional Court. The extraordinary commissioner's actions, which are [carried out] directly under the authority of the government, are also absolutely illegal, detrimental not only to Agrokor but also to the Republic of Croatia and its economy and budget. Because of the unconstitutional [passing of] Lex [Agrokor], our economy lost the synergy potentials and markets that my team and I have built up for decades. The three neighbouring, friendly states of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia refused to recognise Lex Agrokor, which was adopted by the Republic of Croatia. Damages to Agrokor, but also to the Republic of Croatia, are already being measured in billions.
Slovenia, a member of the European Union that applies the norms and values that Croatia must apply, has clearly expressed the view that this law can not be recognised in such a legal framework. Prime Minister Plenković is talking about Agrokor every day and consciously destroying it! Lex Agrokor is detrimental to all those who have legitimate interests in the success of Agrokor - owners, investors, workers, suppliers, the Croatian state, as well as the countries within the region in which Agrokor has its factories. What is happening is the plunder and destruction of the system, and what has been clear from the outset is that Lex Agrokor will produce incalculable consequences.
Agrokor spent billions of euros in the markets, synergies, for the development of new technologies, in the industry, and in new companies with expensive financing. We've created new values, opened thousands of jobs, became internationally competitive. All of this has been being destroyed overnight by a corrupt state governed by lobbyists, advisors and scavenging funds! (vultures)''
