13 Migrants Caught Illegally Crossing Croatian-Slovenian Border

ZAGREB, January 19, 2018 - Police discovered 12 Afghans and one Turkish national in three taxi cabs attempting to illegally cross the border between Croatia and Slovenia near Buzet, Istria on Thursday evening, Istria police reported on Friday.

The illegal migrants were caught around 7 p.m. in Mala Huba near Buzet, riding in three taxis driven by drivers from Zagreb.

The 13 were charged with breaking the Schengen Borders Code and the Croatian law on state border surveillance.

According to the police, the three taxi drivers were not charged as they were allegedly not aware that their passengers intended to illegally cross the border.
