New Conflict of Interest Commission Chairwoman Elected

By 2 March 2018

ZAGREB, March 2, 2018 - Lawyer Nataša Novaković was appointed chair of the Conflict of Interest Commission in a second secret ballot in the Croatian parliament on Friday, receiving a majority of 78 votes.

The first ballot took place on 16 February, when her nomination fell short by one vote to be confirmed, as 75 MPs voted for her and 46 for her rival, Dalija Orešković, who chaired the five-member commission in the previous term. In the meantime, Orešković withdrew her candidacy.

On 16 February, lawmakers elected four other members of the commission: Tatijana Vučetić, Davorin Ivanjek, Aleksandra Jozić Ileković, and Tončica Božić. Vučetić and Ivanjek were re-elected.

Today, the opposition boycotted the vote, and all 78 lawmakers who took their ballots voted for Novaković.
