ZAGREB, March 8, 2018 - President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović on Thursday extended her best wishes to all women in Croatia on International Women's Day, calling on them to remember all of the women role models in their families and the society, all small and big battles women had won through the history of the gender equality fight, underlining that Croatia had achieved a lot in the gender equality, but that there is still a lot to be done in that field.
"Today, when I am addressing all women, young women and girls in Croatia as Croatia's first woman president, extending them best wishes on International Women's Day, I call on them to recall with pride their mothers, grandmothers, all those women whom they hold dear and role models who inspired them to achieve success in life," Grabar Kitarović said.
She stressed Croatia had achieved a lot on its journey of including women in the public, professional and political life, but that there was room for improvement.
"Ensuring full equality of women in the society is important for us but also for efforts to make sure that our daughters will not have to face the same problems and barriers in exercising their human rights and social equality, primarily in employment and family planning," the president says.
