Court Convicts Man for Sending Threats to Journalists Association President

By 12 March 2018

ZAGREB, March 12, 2018 - The Municipal court in Zlatar gave Ivan Goluban a one year suspended sentence with three year's probation for sending threatening text messages to the president of the Croatian Journalists Association (HND), Saša Leković, the HND said in a press release on Sunday.

Given that both the prosecutor and the defendant waived their right to appeal the verdict, it has become final.

Goluban was arrested last November.

The prosecution indicted Goluban because of severe threats, a crime for which the law foresees a sentence of between six months and five years in prison. His legal situation was even more difficult, given that the prosecution described the threats sent to Leković as a hate crime.
