New Rules for Foreigners Living in Croatia

ZAGREB, April 5, 2018 - The government on Thursday sent to parliament amendments to the Law on Aliens under fast track procedure in order to align it with the EU directive on the conditions of entry and residence of third-country nationals for the purposes of research, study, training, voluntary service, student exchange schemes or educational projects and au pairing.

According to Interior Minister Davor Božinović, under the new law students will able to regulate their residence if they are taking part in educational projects implemented by an educational institution, while so far they were able to regulate their residence only via the student exchange scheme.

Students and researchers will have mobility provided that they have been granted residence in another member state of the European economic area and upon the completion of their studies they can regulate their residence for the purpose of job seeking or self-employment.
