Croatian Foreign Minister to Visit Canada and USA

ZAGREB, April 19, 2018 - Croatia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić will pay a visit to Canada and the United States from Friday to Tuesday, her ministry announced on Thursday.

Pejčinović Burić will be in Toronto from 20 to 22 April to attend meetings between G7 foreign ministers and female foreign ministers from around the world.

The informal G7 meeting will discuss the security situation in Syria, relations with Russia, relations with Iran, the situation in Venezuela and the Korean peninsula, while the formal meeting will focus on equality and empowerment of women as a key factor in building peace, reducing poverty and of economic growth.

While in Toronto, Pejčinović Burić will meet with her Canadian counterpart Chrystia Freeland to discuss bilateral relations, particularly ways of improving economic cooperation and attracting investment to Croatia. She will also meet with Croatian business people and representatives of the Croatian community in Canada.

In New York on 23 and 24 April, the Croatian minister will attend a UN Security Council open debate on youth, peace and security and a UN General Assembly high-level meeting on peace building and sustaining peace.

Also scheduled is a meeting with Miroslav Lajčak, President of the UN General Assembly.
