Security Intelligence Agency Investigating Agrokor E-Mails

By 11 May 2018

ZAGREB, May 11, 2018 - The head of the Security and Intelligence Agency (SOA) Daniel Markić said on Friday that the agency is engaged in efforts to make the situation surrounding "the so-called e-mail scandal" clear and is giving law enforcement authorities, including the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, full support.

"We can say only that SOA is engaged. That is our job. We have been clearly instructed by the state leadership to clarify the situation. We are supporting DORH, and it is important that DORH provides a final 'remedy'," Markić told the N1 commercial broadcaster.

Asked about the possible findings, Markić said that the agency would put forward a final report to the state leadership and possibly to the Parliament's National Security Committee.

After that the media will be informed of the documents.

Asked about the authenticity of some text messages published in media outlets that claim that they came from the Economy Minister Martina Dalić's phones and people seen to be associated with the preparation of the Lex Agrokor, Markić said that "they seem ridiculous at first glance." However, the agency will deal with the matter to establish what this is about, he added.
