ZAGREB, May 29, 2018 - Bosnia and Herzegovina's police stopped over 150 illegal migrants entering the country during the weekend, while dozens were detained after crossing the border illegally and in attempts to leave the country.
The border police said in a statement on Monday that 155 migrants had been prevented from entering Bosnia and Herzegovina from Serbia and Montenegro during the weekend.
At the same time, another 18 illegal migrants were captured after entering the country and four were discovered while attempting to cross the border into Croatia.
The strongest migratory pressure was recorded at Višegrad on the border with Serbia where 52 migrants were stopped from entering Bosnia and Herzegovina during the night between Sunday and Monday. An increased influx was also reported at Bileća on the border with Montenegro.
All the migrants discovered inside Bosnia and Herzegovina have been handed over to the department for alien affairs.
