ZAGREB, June 7, 2018 - A migrant who tried to attack a police patrol with a blunt object while attempting to cross from Croatia into Slovenia on Wednesday morning was arrested and, according to a police report, he was stopped when one of Croatian police officers fired a warning shot at the ground.
Karlovac police department chief Josip Ćelić told the press on Wednesday that the policeman fired the warning shot after the migrant tried to attack the police patrol that caught him and other three migrants crossing illegally into Slovenia.
The migrant who was caught is of the Iranian descent. Slovenia's police are searching for two migrants who managed to enter Slovenia and the Croatian law enforcement forces are searching for the remaining migrant on the run.
The arrestee is under investigation.
The police official described the incident at the border near the town of Netretić as an isolated event.
