Large Group of Migrants Trying to Forcibly Enter Croatia

The group has been stopped at the very border.

About a hundred migrants currently accommodated in northwest Bosnia have decided to try to forcibly enter Croatia, reports Index.hr on June 18, 2018.

They left their camp earlier today and moved towards the Velika Kladuša – Maljevac border crossing between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The Bosnian police have arrived and closed the border crossing, according to the local Radio Velika Kladuša.

According to media reports, the migrant group was halted about 200 metres from the border itself. They are prevented from proceeding by police forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The Velika Kladuša-Maljevac border crossing has been closed until further notice in both directions. The road from the local shopping centre to the border has also been closed.

A large number of police vehicles have moved towards the Croatian border, while the Croatian police are using a helicopter to monitor the stand-off.
