Islamic Leader Issues Eid al-Adha Message

By 20 August 2018

ZAGREB, August 20, 2018 - The president of the Islamic community in Croatia, Mufti Aziz ef. Hasanović, on Monday sent greetings to all the faithful on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, underscoring that the feast was an opportunity for them to ask themselves why Muslims today were the victims of various global plots when "so much Muslim blood is flowing, mostly at the hands of Muslims themselves, that it worries all reasonable people regardless of what faith they belong to and confuses all of mankind."

The migrant crisis has caused many misfortunes both to those who have been compelled to leave their homes and those who are faced with the challenge of how to face them, which can in no way be put in the same category, said Hasanović.

"No one leaves their homes, family and homeland unless they have great reason to and that is to save their own lives and head into uncertainty regardless. The number of those who are killed on that path is great. The Mediterranean for some is a holiday destination and for enjoyment yet for others it has become a graveyard," Hasanović underscored.

Unfortunately, the migrant crisis has divided the political stage in Europe and some have been using it to develop anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim rhetoric, thus inciting Islamophobia and gaining political points and power.

"Often we hear of an intentional plan and conspiracy against Europe and the desire to Islamise Europe. This is being done by those who want to contribute to growing Islamophobia and make life more difficult for migrants and Muslims living in Europe. If what they are saying was true, then we should know that that plan wasn't designed in the East but in the West," Hasanović underscored.

Hasanović added that the Haj has clearly defined messages – the need for the unity of Muslims, fear of God and hope for a better tomorrow.
